You are eligible to enroll in benefits for the first 30 days of employment starting on your date of hire. Coverage begins on the first day of the following month after your start date. Enrollments made after the first of the month following your start date will be retroactive to the first of the month as long as enrollments are timely made in the 30-day window.
You can go to the New Hire Tab found on GatesHealth.com and click the button that states: “Elect Your Benefits Here.” Once directed to the login screen in Oracle, you will need to select: “Login Assistance” to get your password reset. Once you have your password obtained, you can proceed into the enrollments window. If you do not have a Gates email address and access Oracle through other means, contact your local HR representative for the login instructions.
In addition to employees, we extend benefit coverage to eligible dependents. Eligible participants include: Legal spouses, children, and unmarried, disabled biological children of any age. Spouses with access to their own employer sponsored medical plan that costs $160 or less/month are ineligible for Gates’ medical plans, but they can remain on all other plans.
Consova is our dependent verification audit group. They are a very secure and specialized group that specializes in dependent verifications. We require anyone with dependents to go through this audit for our plan to remain compliant and to ensure that we have eligible dependents covered appropriately. Open Enrollment is an annual event each fall where you can enroll in or change your benefits, typically taking place in November. You will be notified when Open Enrollment opens. Enrollments made during open enrollment go into effect on the 1st of January for the upcoming year. Your benefits will stay in effect for the whole year unless you have a Qualifying Life Event (QLE).
New Hires must make benefit selections within 30 days of their start date, otherwise they will have to wait until the annual open enrollment period. If you experienced a mid-year Qualified Life Event (QLE) like Birth, Adoption, Death, Marriage, Divorce, Loss/Gain of Coverage, you may make changes mid-year as well.
Please reach out to benefits and/or your local HR and complete the benefits enrollment form. You must alert benefits within 30 days of the event and provide benefits with any supporting documentation needed. The benefits enrollment form can be found here.
Your coverage continues through the end of the month in which you terminate from the company.
After you receive your first paycheck at Gates, you can log into GatesRetirement.com and make any modifications or election changes to your 401(k). Employees can log into their account at any point throughout the year and make modifications at that point.
